Adult Day Training
...Mary Williamson, Director

Adult Day Training -- offers an array of activities and provides training to support persons with disabilities to become increasingly aware of their individual needs and desires and to choose the way those needs and desires are met as a valued member of the community.

Adult Day Training offers activities of daily living, self-advocacy, adaptive and social skills which are of interest to adults who would benefit from a facility-based program. Services may be provided in conjunction with other types of services such as Supported Employment. The activities and routines will be directed by the individual who is participating in the program. Core programs have been developed which provide variation and interest and are geared to address the types of goals individuals seek to achieve in an Adult Day Training setting. Adventures in Learning is offered to engage participants in thoughtful and meaningful projects requiring listening skills, ability to follow instructions and participating and working together in group settings. Vocational training offers individuals the opportunity to earn a pay check while gaining skills that could facilitate placement in the Supported Employment program. The Fine Arts program is directed to address the integration of the sensory system through the use of texture, color and interesting activities. Throughout each of the venues communication and appropriate social interaction are addressed formally or informally.
