Residential Services -- Living with a developmental disability creates special challenges every day. The simple acts that most of us take for granted are not so simple for a person dealing with the effects of autism, spina bifida, cerebral palsy or mental retardation. The Arc Residential Services Program provides living experiences in comfortable and safe settings suitable for a person with developmental disabilities. It makes a major difference in the lives of these people by fostering a home and family environment for individuals who call The Arc Home.
The Residential Program provides 24 hour residential services for men and women with developmental disabilities who require assistance in their daily living skills, behavior management, medical care, community awareness and community integration skills and want to live in a group home setting. Formal habilitation training programs are implemented throughout the week to assist individuals in attaining and maintaining skills that are important to their well being. Everyone is encouraged to pursue recreational and leisure time activities which are of interest. The ultimate goal of the program is to create a personal style of living which they can truly call their Home.
Group Homes operated by The Arc of the St. Johns Residential Services Program meet the highest standards for safety, cleanliness and care. These small residential style homes blend into the community and are good neighbors. For a person with autism or other severe developmental disability, having a safe, supportive home environment is often a dream come true.
