Traumatic Injury Community Housing Option
Dave Vinson—Director
The Traumatic Injury Community Housing Options is a pioneering residential and auxiliary support model for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury. Every year approximately 3,000 Floridians experience a severe brain injury or spinal cord injury requiring ongoing care. Due to the severity of the injuries and when total care at home is not a practical option, many individuals have no choice but to live in nursing homes. Our program provides an alternative housing arrangement to help individuals with traumatic injuries through this trying time in their life.
Program Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Has been referred to the BSCIP Central Registry
- Fits the BSCIP definition of a Traumatic Brain Injury and/or a Spinal Cord Injury
- Is medically stable
- An expectation that, through rehab, the individual can
re-enter a community setting
